Celebrating 10 Years of Art & Wine Book
Creative Direction / Book Design
Since 2003 Eric Kent Wine Cellars have been producing high quality wines that feature a wide variety of emerging artists on the bottle labels to highlight their artwork.
The goal of the client was to produce a book for their 10 year anniversary celebration, exhibiting the wine label art and artists that they display on each vintage.
I was challenged to curate the images into a cohesive book design that showed not only a chronological growth, but also told the story and connection between the culture of wine & art. I sorted and organized hundreds of images; categorizing, re-touching and making the strongest selections that told the best story.
I obsessed over the opening page grid that worked out to fit the 72 labels neatly on the spread, and I aligned each crop specifically to relate to each other. I also made a strong case to show the entire artwork within the book, typically it is cropped to meet the specs of the wine label.
The book was featured as part of the Celebrating 10 Years of Art & Wine event that represented over 50 artists and nearly 70 bottles of great wine!
